Work out your Tier Points, the post-2025 way
Last verified 9 August 2026
British Airways Club Tier Points accrue at 1 Tier Point per GBP 1 of eligible spend on a British Airways flight, where eligible spend is the fare plus any carrier-imposed charges, and airport and government taxes are excluded. American-marketed flights have credited on the same total-eligible-spend basis since 1 April 2025. A ticket marketed by another partner airline earns Tier Points from a published fare-class percentage of the distance flown instead, and those partner tables are not loaded here yet, so partner mode says a rate is not on file rather than guessing one. Enter your spend in pounds below; the US dollar equivalent is shown underneath.
Worked example: 1,000 GBP of spend earns 1,000 TP.
1 TP per 1 unit of spend
1,000 GBP is about 1,270 USD at 1.27 USD per GBP, rate noted 8 August 2026.

Frequently asked questions
- Why is the input in pounds and not US dollars?
- The Tier Point rule is written in pounds, at 1 Tier Point per GBP 1 of eligible spend, so the input stays in the currency the rule is defined in. A US dollar equivalent is shown underneath, using a reference rate that is refreshed by hand and printed with the date it was noted. British Airways converts a non-sterling purchase at the IATA five-day exchange rate that applied on the day you bought the ticket, so the figure here is an approximation of that conversion rather than a match.
- How many Tier Points do I need for Silver?
- Bronze at 3,500, Silver at 7,500, Gold at 20,000 and Gold Guest List at 65,000 Tier Points, as listed in the status tiers table above.
- Does Bronze, Silver or Gold status earn Tier Points faster?
- No. The 15, 30 and 50 percent Bronze, Silver and Gold bonuses are Avios bonuses, and they apply on the distance-based partner path only. They never apply to Tier Points, and they never change the per-pound rate on British Airways flights.
- What counts as eligible spend?
- Every GBP 1 spent on your fare and on any carrier-imposed charges added by the airline. Non-airline taxes and fees, such as airport charges and government taxes, are excluded. Add-on purchases have earned 2 Tier Points per GBP 1 since 1 April 2026, with sustainable aviation fuel contributions capped at 2,000 Tier Points per membership year. This calculator prices flight spend only, not add-ons.
- Can I earn Tier Points on a partner airline?
- Yes, from a published percentage of the distance flown in your booking class rather than from the fare. British Airways publishes a different table for each partner, keyed on the airline that operates the flight, and several partners earn no Tier Points at all. Those tables are not loaded into this calculator yet, so partner mode reports that no rate is on file instead of guessing one.
