Work out your PQP, and what PQF adds
Last verified 9 August 2026
United Premier Qualifying Points accrue at 1 PQP per eligible dollar on United-marketed tickets. Premier Qualifying Flights, or PQF, simply count qualifying segments and let you reach a tier on a lower PQP figure. On a partner-operated segment, PQP comes from a capped share of the redeemable miles you earn rather than from the fare, so this calculator shows those miles and does not yet publish a partner PQP figure. Choose the mode that matches your ticket below.
Worked example: 1,000 USD of spend earns 1,000 PQP.
1 PQP per 1 unit of spend
Status tiers
| Tier | Threshold |
|---|---|
| Premier Silver | 5,000 PQP |
| Premier Gold | 10,000 PQP |
| Premier Platinum | 15,000 PQP |
| Premier 1K | 24,000 PQP |

Home-marketed ticket
- Base rate
- 1 PQP per USD of eligible spend
- Status tier
- Does not change this rate. Every tier earns the same PQP per USD.
Partner ticket
- Earns
- PQP
- Chart keyed on
- the airline that operates the flight
- Distance basis
- great-circle distance between the two airports
- Partner airlines with a chart
- LH. Those charts publish redeemable miles only, so this calculator reports the miles a ticket marketed by one of them earns and does not show a PQP figure the airline does not publish.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between PQP and PQF?
- PQP is a dollar-based qualification metric and PQF counts qualifying flight segments. Each Premier tier can be reached on PQP alone, at the thresholds in the table above, or on a lower PQP figure combined with a PQF minimum.
- Can I earn PQP without flying United?
- Yes. On a partner-operated segment United awards PQP as a capped share of the redeemable miles the segment earns, not as a percentage of the fare. This calculator computes the redeemable miles from United's partner chart in partner-ticket mode, and deliberately does not publish a PQP figure until that divisor is verified and seeded.
- Why did the redeemable-mile rates change in April 2026?
- United restated its per-dollar earning on 2 April 2026 to 3 miles per dollar as a general member, rising to 9 as a Premier 1K. Those are absolute rates by tier, not bonuses added on top of a base, and widely reproduced 5 to 11 figures are the superseded pre-April table.
