Frequently asked questions
- Do all airline miles and hotel points expire?
- No. Some programmes, including Delta SkyMiles and United MileagePlus, never expire miles from inactivity. Others expire after a set period, either resetting on any activity or expiring per-tranche a fixed number of months after each mile was earned. The table above shows the exact policy for every verified programme.
- What counts as activity that resets the expiry clock?
- For most activity-reset programmes, any earn or redemption counts: a flight, a hotel stay, a shopping-portal purchase, a small bank-point transfer, or even a dining-programme meal. The cheapest documented action for each programme is listed in the table above.
- What does "expires per tranche" mean?
- Some programmes, such as Emirates Skywards and Singapore KrisFlyer, expire each batch of miles a fixed number of months after it was earned, rather than expiring the whole account on inactivity. Tracking this precisely needs your full transaction history.
- Where does this data come from?
- Each row links to a named source: the programme's own terms and conditions page, or a reputable independent publication when that is the clearest available corroboration. Every row shows the date it was last verified.
- Can I get alerts before my points expire?
- Yes. A free account gets a 30-day reminder before anything expires. Pro adds earlier warnings at 90 and 7 days.
