Best Western brands this as Status Match, No Catch, and against its published terms that name holds up: no fee, and no stated conditions beyond proof of your current status. There is no trial to survive and no stay requirement attached to the match itself, which makes it one of the few genuinely low-effort matches on this site.

The caveat is on the other side of the trade. Best Western Gold is the entry rung of a four-tier ladder running Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Diamond Select, normally earned at 5, 7, 15 and 25 nights respectively. Matching from Hilton Gold puts you on the bottom rung, and the match substitutes for that 5-night qualification rather than carrying you past it.

So the value is real but modest. It costs nothing but the application, and it is worth doing if Best Western properties appear where you travel, particularly across North America where the brand is dense. It is not worth restructuring any travel around.
