Be clear about what is on offer: Hilton matches to Gold, its middle tier, not to Diamond. Holding Marriott Platinum Elite you are stepping down the ladder, and Hilton excludes Diamond-equivalent status from the match entirely, so there is no route here that starts you at the top.

There is no fee to apply and the trial runs 90 days.

The two numbers that decide whether this is worth anything are counted in nights, not stays. Six nights inside the 90 days holds Gold through 31 March 2028. Twelve nights inside the same 90 days upgrades you to Diamond, but only through 31 March 2027.

Read that trade twice, because it is the opposite of what most people assume. The smaller commitment buys the longer runway at the lower tier; the larger commitment buys a shorter runway at the higher one. If you want the longest useful stretch of Hilton status for the least effort, six nights and Gold is the better deal, and doubling your nights actively shortens how long the status lasts.

Applying takes a screenshot, digital card, or recent statement showing your current Marriott tier. If you cannot see six Hilton nights in the next three months, the trial lapses and you gain nothing durable.

Hold current elite status at another major hotel programme (Diamond-equivalent excluded) and Hilton will match you to Gold for a 90-day trial.
