Is this match worth making?

Explorist is World of Hyatt's middle tier and Hilton Gold is Hilton's middle tier, so this is close to like-for-like rather than an upgrade. The honest reason to do it is coverage, not status: Hyatt's footprint is small next to Hilton's, and holding mid-tier standing in both means being recognised in far more cities.

Hilton matches to Gold and nothing higher. Diamond-equivalent status is excluded from the match, so there is no version of this where Explorist starts you at Diamond.

There is no fee, and the trial runs 90 days.

Keeping it is measured in nights. Six nights within the 90 days holds Gold through 31 March 2028. Twelve nights within the same window moves you to Diamond, but only through 31 March 2027. Note which of those buys the longer runway before deciding which to chase, because the cheaper option is also the longer-lasting one.

The real test is whether six Hilton nights are realistic for you inside three months. If Hyatt is where your stays actually happen, this match will expire unused, and that is a perfectly good reason to skip it.

Hold current elite status at another major hotel programme (Diamond-equivalent excluded) and Hilton will match you to Gold for a 90-day trial. Stay 6 nights in that window to keep Gold through 2028-03-31, or 12 nights to upgrade to Diamond through 2027-03-31. Upload a screenshot, digital card, or recent statement showing your current tier.

To keep it: 6 nights in 90 days keeps Gold; 12 nights in 90 days upgrades to Diamond.
