How the grade is calculated
cpp (cents per point) = (cash price minus taxes and fees) divided by points spent, times 100. Your grade is the ratio of that cpp to Miles Mosaic's own published valuation for the programme: A+ at 2.0x baseline or higher, A at 1.5x, B at 1.1x, C at 0.8x, D at 0.5x, and F below that. The banding is openly modelled on Frequent Miler's Reasonable Redemption Values, which scores a redemption against the median achievable value for that programme rather than a single fixed number.
Frequently asked questions
- What counts as a good cents-per-point redemption?
- It depends entirely on the programme. Hilton Honors is valued far lower per point than an airline programme, so a redemption that grades poorly against American AAdvantage's baseline can grade well against Hilton's. That is the whole point of grading against a programme-specific benchmark instead of a single flat number.
- Why does the grader show a different verdict for the same cpp on two programmes?
- Because the ratio is always cpp divided by that programme's own baseline, and baselines differ widely between airline, hotel, and bank-transferable currencies. See the benchmark table above for every launch programme's baseline.
- What if my programme is not listed?
- Choose "Other / not listed" and the grader uses a generic benchmark, clearly labelled as such, so the verdict is still useful even though it is not programme-specific.
- What does the percentile line mean?
- Once at least 50 redemptions for a programme have been approved into the community pool, the line compares your cpp against real reported redemptions. Below that threshold it interpolates against an editorial estimate and is labelled accordingly, never presented as community data.
